Description
Within the research project “Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance in the 1970s and 1980s” (funded by the German Research Foundation), we intend to hire a Research Associate (f/m/d) for a period of three years (E13 TV-L with 65% of the regular weekly working hours). The position will start on 1 October 2023.
The project deals with the research cooperation of the member countries of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA) in the 1970s and 1980s. It aims to provide new insights into CMEA, into the cooperation and competition among socialist countries, and into their actions on the European and global levels. Exemplarily, the project focuses on research cooperation in agriculture and forestry as well as in the field of environmental protection. These areas will be examined from two national perspectives – the GDR and the Polish People’s Republic. The Research Associate will focus on the participation of Polish actors (government, research institutions, scientists and technical experts) in research related to environmental protection within the framework of the CMEA.
Requirements for employment are a completed, relevant university degree with above-average grades (Master Level), an independent working style and the ability to work in a team, as well as the willingness to write a doctoral thesis on the above-mentioned topic. Very good oral and written language skills in German and/or English are required, as well as very good knowledge of Polish, both written and spoken (level C1 or B2 or the willingness to acquire this level within the first year of employment). Ideally, you also have knowledge of Russian.
